Buying things via WhatsApp should become much easier today with the introduction of a shopping cart.
This might be a feature we are all used to in most online stores, but the shopping cart has not been featured in Facebook’s messaging app so far. WhatsApp realized that adding a shopping cart made a lot of sense after the introduction of catalogs, which made it easy and quick for users to see what was available from a business using the app to promote their products.
“Starting today, we’re excited to bring Shopping Carts to WhatsApp. Shopping Carts are great for messaging businesses that typically sell multiple items at once, like a local restaurant or clothing store. With shopping carts, people can browse a catalog, select multiple products, and send the order as one message to the business, so it will be easier for businesses to track order inquiries, manage customer inquiries, and close the sales.
The cart works exactly as expected. Visit the company you want to order from, press the buy button next to its name and, in the product catalog that opens, select the product you want to buy, press “Add to cart” and repeat until all desired items are in your basket. You can then view and modify the contents of the basket before sending it to the company via a WhatsApp message.

WhatsApp said the shopping cart was rolling out “worldwide” today, so if it’s not available to you yet, it should be before tomorrow. It’s also no coincidence that Facebook decided to launch this new feature in time for the holiday season, as it is sure to prove very popular and convenient.
