Watford goalkeeper Daniel Bachmann is a target for Manchester United.
The Manchester Evening News says Newcastle goalkeeper Karl Darlow and Watford’s Bachmann are being considered by Manchester United as a replacement signing to make up for the expected departure of Dean Henderson.
Darlow, 31, has been suggested to United by Newcastle in a potential swap deal with Henderson, who hopes to join Eddie Howe’s side.
Former Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Darlow is aware of the talks but is currently on post-season vacation. Darlow featured twice against United last season, saving a Bruno Fernandes penalty in Newcastle’s 4-1 home defeat.
Bachmann, 27, has played 12 Premier League appearances for Watford this season and has started 13 times for Austria since making his debut last year.
United are ready to install Tom Heaton as their second-choice goalkeeper, depending on the caliber of goalkeeper they recruit.
Heaton, 36, joined United last year assuming he would be their No.2 keeper but only appeared once as a substitute in the draw for the group stage of the Champions League with the Young Boys.
Sources close to Henderson say United have been the ‘stumbling block’ amid his desire to move elsewhere after just three appearances in 2021-22.
The 25-year-old has no problem leaving United permanently, but the club have never sanctioned a permanent sale and have indicated a preference for a loan deal with Newcastle.
