Shopping cart

The Epic Games Store finally has a shopping cart feature

Just over three years after its launch, the Epic Games Store finally has the one feature that almost every online marketplace needs. Players who decide to purchase more than one game will no longer have to buy them separately and, starting today, can now put them in a shopping cart. The addition of a basket has been celebrated in jest by Epic Games Founder and CEO Tim Sweeney on Twitter.

It is unclear why Epic Games, which in addition to running its own online game market, is also the publisher and developer behind fortnite, has taken so long to add such a simple feature to the Epic Games Store. However, the addition of an online shopping cart should make a critical difference in the quality of life for customers when purchasing games in-store.

Epic Games Store users aren’t the only ones who want a shopping cart to come to the Epic Games Store. The small feature was also on Sweeney’s wish list. In one tweet from last junethe CEO said, “So the Epic Games Store doesn’t have a shopping cart. There should be a shopping cart. One day there will be a shopping cart. But in the meantime, we don’t need to publish graphic pamphlets decrying the evils of shopping carts. It’s absurd.”

Outside of the final addition of a shopping cart to the Epic Games Store, things have been pretty busy at Epic Games. The company recently acquired Harmonix, the studio behind Rock Band and DJ heroand is currently striving to maintain its top spot in the metaverse race.
