The 2022 NFL Draft will be an opportunity for Jacksonville to add more talent to its young roster.
It’s been a tough year for the young Jaguars, to say the least. Jacksonville has just two wins as we enter Week 15. We’ve seen some ups and downs since 2021 No. 1 pick Trevor Lawrence entered the league with high expectations. Injuries to key plays and a lack of talent across the roster have contributed to the weekly disappointments displayed by this team. What made matters worse for the Jags was the head coach fiasco.
Head coach Urban Meyer was recently fired by Jacksonville, it was reported just after midnight Thursday by Adam Schefter. It’s been a tenure filled with distractions from the Tim Tebow experience, the bar incident after their Week 4 loss to Cincinnati, and the flood of reports of disrespect to his staff and some players. Owner Shad Khan had seen enough. A hire that once raised great hopes ended up being a controversial failure for one of the greatest college coaches of all time.
As Darrell Bevell steps in as interim head coach, his task for the remaining weeks of the regular season is to find a way to get the Jaguars back on track. It’s a mess right now because their franchise culture has taken a hit as a result of the Meyer turmoil.
That said, 2022 will be a new chapter for this team. The one they hope will result in more positives than negatives. They will be a free agency player given their cap space and the fact that a new coach will come to change the narrative surrounding the Jaguars. Their young talent is seen in many parts of the roster, however, their depth is still an obvious issue.
