LAS VEGAS (KVVU/Gray News) – A group of Porch Hackers were caught on camera stealing packages and putting them in a shopping cart as they drove through a Las Vegas neighborhood.
KVVU reports that it was almost as if they were shopping in a store.
Resident Hugo Organista said he received a notification about a package he had ordered delivered to his home over the weekend. He said his partner asked if he wanted someone to pick him up for them, but he refused.
“When we got home Sunday night, we pulled up in the driveway, and I was sticking my head out, looking for the package because I was a little excited to open it,” Organista said.
However, the package could not be found, so Organista watched the security video.
All of the cameras and security system in Organista’s home didn’t deter the thieves; they just caught them in the act.
“I could have very easily called a neighbor or a friend or someone to come pick it up, but honestly, I just didn’t think that would happen this time around,” Organista said.
Organista said he will ensure deliveries are only scheduled when he is home from now on.
He filed a claim with the store where the package was purchased, but they refused it because they said it had been delivered. He also contacted his credit card company and thinks the purchase protection policy will cover him.
