Peekskill Man steals wallet from shopping cart: PD

PEEKSKILL, NY – A Peekskill man has been charged with stealing a wallet from a shopping cart at Yorktown BJ’s Wholesale Club.

The Yorktown Police Department said Dale Page, 76, of Peekskill, was charged Monday with grand larceny in the fourth degree, a felony, and petty theft, a misdemeanor.

Police say shortly before 3 p.m. on August 27, officers responded to BJ in Yorktown for a report of wallet caught in basket.

The investigation revealed that Page had taken the wallet from a purse without the victim noticing. The wallet contained $315 and three credit cards.

On Monday, Page was pulled over on the Taconic State Parkway by Westchester County police for a traffic violation. County police discovered he was wanted by Yorktown police on the theft charges.

He was placed under arrest and taken to the Yorktown Police Department for processing.

Page was arraigned and sent to Westchester County Jail. He is due in court in Yorktown on September 15.
