MONCKS CORNER, SC (WCSC) – Construction has begun on a new shopping center at Moncks Corner.
The Moncks Corner Marketplace plans to accommodate new retail, restaurant and service businesses. The developer, Branch Properties, recently announced that it would be anchored in a Publix supermarket.
The mall arrives on a vacant 9-acre site just before US Highway 52 and Cypress Gardens Road. The site is directly across from the Berkeley Ford dealership and just before the Foxbank Plantation area.
According to Branch Properties partner Brett Horowitz, there will be a total of 10 to 12 different tenants in the new mall.
They are not yet sharing the names of the other tenants, but Horowitz says they still have about 5,600 square feet of space still open for rent.
Branch said in a statement that they were excited to build in one of the fastest growing neighborhoods north of Charleston. They say the population of Moncks Corner is on track to increase by 4.59% per year.
Moncks Corner Mayor Michael Lockliear says he is delighted to have a Publix Supermarket and Moncks Corner Market under construction.
“This is a huge addition for Moncks Corner, especially for the thousands of people who live on the southern outskirts of town and have needed groceries and other shopping and dining options for years,” Lockliear said.
The Moncks Corner market is expected to be completed in June 2022.
