A video shared in February 2022 continues to resonate with viewers after a mother shared details of the $12,000 hospital bill she received when her toddler fell from a shopping cart.
Brooke Lehman posted the video on her social media platforms, and it amassed over a million views on TikTok alone. In a video she shared in late July 2021, Lehman explained that her child had fractured his skull after falling from a shopping cart and urged parents to be careful and buckle up their children when sitting in them. the shopping cart.
According to the Nationwide Children’s Hospital, thousands of children are injured each year while riding in shopping carts, and approximately 66 children require treatment in emergency departments.
“Injuries are more likely to occur when children fall off the cart or when the cart overturns,” the hospital said. “Serious injuries such as concussions and broken bones, even death, can occur.”
The organization has suggested that if a parent decides to put their child in a shopping cart, it should be stable, the child should be securely restrained and they should remain seated.
In her video explaining what happened to her daughter, Lehman said she was rushed to hospital where she underwent a CT scan. After learning that she had fractured her skull, they were transferred to another hospital.
“Doctors said she should fully recover within a year,” read the text on Lehman’s video. “Get something out of this, always tie your babies in the basket.”
Lehman posted the following video which showed the various charges the family faced after arriving at the hospital.
These costs included the ambulance ride, emergency room visits and observation fees.
Lehman said the bill totaled $12,047.03.
Viewers were shocked when they saw the detailed bill and were quick to share their thoughts in the comments section.

Other reviewers who said they live in different countries shared that a visit would have been either free or for a small fee.

“Health care is free in my country except for private care, but nothing costs that much money,” read another comment.
This isn’t the only itemized bill Lehman has shared on TikTok.
In February, she posted a video that has been viewed nearly 5 million times showing the itemized bill she received in early July 2021 after giving birth to her daughter. She said the bill was for a total of $14,046.40.
