NEW HARTFORD, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY-TV) – The New Hartford Police Department reports that a man was arrested for multiple robberies during August and may also be responsible for other robberies reported in the whole region.
In July 2021, the New Hartford Police Department began investigating a series of theft complaints that were taking place around Slusser Ave, Lawrence Ave, Wilbur Road, Orange Ave, Golf Ave, and New Hartford Mall businesses. .
Eventually, investigators turned their attention to Robert L. Spano, 43, of New Hartford. Spano is accused of entering a building on Slusser Ave on the afternoon of August 2n/a and stole over $2,400 worth of items. He then allegedly stole a shopping cart from Dollar General and used it to transport the stolen items off the premises.
Police say the investigation is still ongoing and there may be more charges in the future. They believe Spano is responsible for the theft of a bicycle on August 9and of a bike shop in the New Hartford Mall, as well as several other thefts and burglaries that have taken place in the area.
Robert L. Spano has been arrested and charged with the following:
- One count of third degree burglary (class A misdemeanor)
- Two counts of Petit Larceny (class A misdemeanor)
Spano was arraigned in the Oneida County CAP Court and remanded to the Oneida County Jail without bond for having more than 2 prior felony convictions.
