Goodwill to open new store at Hollywood Square Mall in Salem

A new Goodwill store will open Wednesday at the Hollywood Square mall near Delmont.

Shoppers will be treated to live music, refreshments and a new store full of donated items after a 10 a.m. ribbon-cutting ceremony at 6740 Hollywood Blvd., Salem.

“This store was built with our unique operations in mind,” said Andrew Marano, vice president of donated goods for Goodwill of Southwestern Pennsylvania. “The production and donation areas are designed for efficiency, while the store is very open and ‘green’.”

Marano said the 13,000-square-foot store is equipped with an energy-efficient HVAC system, as well as more energy-efficient building materials.

“We also installed LED lighting in both the sales floor and the production area, which was a conversion we worked on at all of our sites,” Marano said.

The store will employ 20 people and donors will be able to use a new contactless donation space.

It will join 34 other Goodwill retail stores in southwestern Pennsylvania.

Last year, Goodwill officials estimate the stores served more than 13,500 adults and children.
