Burglars with a ‘shopping list’ break into a luxury store in central Auckland

Burglars with a ‘targeted shopping list’ broke into a luxury retail store in central Parnell, Auckland, taking a range of designer clothes, shoes, accessories and homewares.

The thieves gained access to the luxury department store Faradays in the early hours of Sunday morning by forcing entry into the nearby Textile Loft building.

Chief executive Edward von Dadelszen said it appeared the burglars knew in advance how to enter the building.

He said very specific high-value items were stolen and the behavior of the thieves, captured by CCTV, suggests they targeted particular items.

“It was clear they knew the floor plan and the stock, rather than being a smash and grab.”

Faradays stocks luxury items such as a Givenchy Antigona shoulder bag for $2,600 and a men’s silk jacket, commissioned by von Dadelszen himself, on offer for $4,890.

“We are working closely with authorities to close this case and ensure the perpetrators are found and held accountable,” von Dadelszen said.

He asked the public to be aware of buying new luxury goods online from brands that Faradays sells exclusively.

Police are investigating a burglary at a Parnell retail store, where “a quantity of merchandise” was stolen, a police spokeswoman said.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact 105 and quote case number 220116/8841.
